Infrastructure
Investment Fund
The overall objective
of this program is to help the Government of NEPAL facilitate long term
financing for infrastructure by establishing a well-structured Infrastructure
Investment Fund that creates access to long term financing by crowding-in
private sector sources to support infrastructure and PPP projects. The proposed
facility, once established and operational, would be expected to:
- Attract domestic and international
fund flows to infrastructure
- Operate on commercial and
independent basis, while meeting development objectives of NEPAL
- Facilitate PPP deals including
Joint Ventures (JV) and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) by mitigating financing
risks
- Provide targeted financing
products (debt, equity, mezzanine, contingent support, etc.) to address
specific market failures
- Improve market capacity on project
appraisal and commercial risk pricing
- Signal market confidence in the
Government’s commitment to its infrastructure agenda
